PORTFOLIO
My recent project features portrait photography of children who are internally displaced persons. Their homes have either been destroyed or remain under occupation. The project was carried out as part of a series of children’s events called “Childhood Journey,” organized by the charitable organization Coordination Humanitarian Center of the Zaporizhzhia Region (@rcc_zaporizhzhia).
The works were inspired by photojournalist Steve McCurry’s iconic piece, "Afghan Girl" (1984), which depicts a child living in the Nasir Bagh refugee camp in Pakistan during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
Reflecting on this photograph led me to the realization that in any war, the innocent are always the ones who suffer.
I wasn’t sure what to expect - what I would see in the eyes of children who have endured so much at such a young age.
But what I saw was that a child remains a child. When placed in a safe space, surrounded by others, they eagerly immerse themselves in the joy of cotton candy and coloring books.
Yet their eyes, those eyes, speak volumes.
Their parents, too, do everything they can to ensure their children can find moments of happiness and experience the joys of childhood, however fleeting it may be. They were also happy to receive free photos of their children, as many of them had completely lost all their family archives.
My next major project, which is currently in progress, is a collaboration with Seda Vlasova, an activist from Zaporizhzhia who promotes Ukrainian identity and education (@i.am.seda).
It’s a series of Instagram Reels covering socially important topics and critical issues relevant to our society. In this project, I take on the roles of director and videographer.
The project has gained significant reach and sparked lively discussions across the Ukrainian Instagram community.
►We are talking about the fact that learning a language is always timely, no matter how old you are, where you are, or what year the war is still ongoing. In our city, there is a widespread notion among the people that since they've spoken Russian all their lives, it's impossible to learn Ukrainian. We are breaking this stereotype in every possible way.
In this video project, we reflect on what our community experienced last year - on the war, culture, language, and social phenomena.
A video project for Teacher's Day about teachers who are inspired to share knowledge and warmth, despite all the anxieties. It highlights their phrases that are now used during drone and ballistic attacks. We remind how important they remain to their students.
I volunteer for the veterans' charitable organization "Rubikon Voli" (@rubicon_voli), serving as a photographer and videographer. I help showcase the organization's activities so that as many veterans returning from the war as possible know where they can receive psychological, legal, and rehabilitation support. This typically involves documentary-style coverage of events.
And last, but not least -
Portrait photography
I shoot a lot of portraits and family photo sessions. People come to me either for my artistic vision or with a specific purpose, such as business photos, for example.
